Arrest Made in Friday Night Shooting Death

Springfield Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 31-year-old Springfield man late Friday.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon did not release the man’s identity.

The man was taken by ambulance from the 1300 block of East Jackson Street to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly before midnight.

The Springfield Criminal Investigation Division was brought in and after interviews and processing the scene they arrested 23-Year-Old Randy Crockett of Springfield.

Crockett was arrested for firearms related offenses including possession of a firearm – No FOID and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Crockett was transported to the Sangamon County Jail.  This incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
