The Springfield City Council said farewell to Chief Utility Engineer Doug Brown during Tuesday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
Brown worked with the city for 31 years; he has served as head of City Water Light and Power since 2015.
He announced his intent to retire late last year in order to become president and CEO of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency.
Brown’s replacement, Scott Rogers, assumes the role of chief utility engineer today.
