A 48-year-old Springfield area man was arrested on the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Monday afternoon.
Authorities responded to a call of a burglary in progress at an unoccupied building on the fairgrounds.
When officers arrived they found several damaged windows and the suspect inside the building.
The man who has not been identified has been charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal damage to state-supported property, and possession of a controlled substance.
The case remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
