An April Fool’s Day police pursuit has led to multiple felony charges for a Springfield man.

Springfield police say 35-year-old Daveion Cherry fled from police on the night of April 1st.

After initially losing Cherry’s vehicle authorities found the vehicle a short time later in the 1700 block of North Ninth Street, where it had been involved in a crash. Police said the vehicle sustained heavy damage and struck a fence, a City Water, Light and Power ground wire, and a privately owned construction-style dump truck, causing more than $300 in damage.

Authorities also found a Springfield Armory XM 9mm handgun in plain view on the rear passenger floorboard.

The entire incident remains under investigation.
