Governor JB Pritzker says the so-called “megaprojects” bill moving through the state legislature would help the state’s overall business climate and not just the Chicago Bears’ efforts to build a new stadium.
Pritzker told WMAY’s AM Springfield that most of the rest of the nation has a similar provision.
The measure would allow developers of large projects to negotiate discounted payments in lieu of taxes, or PILOT, agreements with local governments with half set aside for property tax relief.
