While the Megaprojects Bill concerning the Chicago Bears stadium situation continues to bring the headlines in the Illinois Legislature a big step forward was taken today for Senate Bill 2829.
The bill championed by State Senator Doris Turner will establish the Capital Area Tourism Authority, allowing it to exercise certain economic development powers.
It also renames the Mid-Illinois Medical District to the Capital City Downtown Medical District, and will establish a new capital city construction jobs income tax credit as well as a historical building rehab tax credit.
The bill passed the Senate Executive Committee Wednesday.
