The main piece of the playground at Jaycee Park in Springfield was destroyed by fire this week.
Springfield Park District authorities were notified of the damage on Monday.
Park District Executive Director Derek Harms told the State Journal-Register that the damaged equipment will eventually be replaced.
An investigation is underway.
