A new toy is about to hit the market called the “My Mini Baby Mom & Surprise Doll.” It features a pregnant Barbie-style doll . . . with a removable stomach. And the stomach contains a very realistic amniotic sac . . . with a tiny plastic baby and slime inside.
To birth the baby, you remove the doll’s stomach . . . pull out the sac . . . and squeeze it until you can push the baby out. You can then flip the doll’s stomach around so her belly is flat again.
It seems like this would be a one-time activity . . . also like an actual birth . . . there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle.
The doll is supposedly available for preorder in the U.K. It’s unclear if and when it’ll be available in the U.S. (That said, the link to the product seems to be down, as of yesterday.)
Naturally, the internet has a LOT of thoughts.
In one reaction video, a woman says, “I get that she had a C-section, the baby was breech. [But] where’s Ken?” Also, if she could share her fitness routine, that would be great. Those abs after a C-section, damn!”
Other comments include: “Oh . . . no one ever explained that I just flip my stomach around.” And, “I can’t decide if this is educational or terrifying or a bit of both.” And another said, “Baby Daddy sold separately.”
On one hand, this doll could be a helpful learning tool for a kid who’s ready for some REAL TALK. But it could also be TMI for most young girls . . . if not ALARMING.
