A man was killed after a vehicle crashed on Wednesday morning following a brief police chase in Christian County.
Illinois State Police said as officers executed a search warrant in Tower Hill, they saw an occupied vehicle nearby believed to be connected to the residence being searched.
The vehicle fled when a Christian County sheriff’s deputy approached. ISP said the deputy chased the vehicle briefly but ended the pursuit due to high speeds.
The deputy found the vehicle crashed in woods just east of Pana. A man was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in the vehicle was injured and taken to an area hospital. Their names were not released.
Illinois State Police are conducting an internal investigation.
