Thanks to Covid, Less Than 20% of People Are Doing the Super Bowl Party Thing

This probably won’t come as a surprise, but most people won’t be hitting up Super Bowl parties this weekend.

In a new poll, 23% said they’ll be watching the Super Bowl alone because of the pandemic, and 8% say they’re attending a VIRTUAL party.

Fewer than 1 in 5 adults plan on hosting or attending a gathering this weekend . . . and only 28% said they’re either “very” or “somewhat” likely to watch with others outside their household.

Even so, 26% say they’re MORE excited to watch this year due to the pandemic, which seems weird.  Maybe not everyone enjoyed being socially strong-armed into partying?  That said, another 26% say they are LESS excited this year.

The survey polled 2,000 American sports fans.  It’s unclear if BILL BELICHICK participated, but if he did, he was definitely in that last group.

In another poll, EVERYONE from “avid fans” to “non-fans” said this Super Bowl would be “less exciting” than in previous years.  And this won’t be a shock:  “Avid fans” are far more likely to say they’ll risk going to a Super Bowl party than non-fans.
