When you look back on the MOST DEVASTATING break-ups you’ve been through . . . you probably don’t consider the ones you’ve watched on TV.  Because that’s a little weird.  But some people take TV very seriously.

AVClub.com has a list of the eight most “devastating” break-ups from TV, and if you’ve got a soft spot for TV melodrama . . . see if you agree.

Here they are:

1.  Mindy and Danny, “The Mindy Project”, 2014

2.  Chidi and Eleanor, “The Good Place”, 2020

3.  Ross and Rachel, “Friends”, 1997

4.  Taylor and Ryan, “The O.C.”, 2007

5.  Veronica Mars and Logan, “Veronica Mars”, 2006

6.  Buffy and Angel, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, 1999

7.  Alexis and Ted, “Schitt’s Creek”, 2020

8.  The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, “Doctor Who”, 2008

All the couples were from the past 25 years, which means that either TV hadn’t learned how to harness the raw emotional power of a split before 1997 . . . or the writers who put together the list are in their mid-30s.

In the comments, others suggested break-ups from “How I Met Your Mother”“Cheers”“The Sopranos”“Big Love”, and “That ’70s Show”.
