Chris Janson will be a celebrity guest at the US Open National Bass Fishing Amateur Team Championships regional qualifying event on Saturday (March 13th). The event is a first-of-its-kind amateur fishing tournament offering the biggest payout in freshwater fishing history and will take place on Florida’s Lake Okeechobee, with proceeds benefiting local conservation and the future of fishing.

Chris will join legendary angler Roland Martin as a special guest at the event and will host the weigh-in starting at 2:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

As one of eight regional qualifying events being held nationwide, the Lake Okeechobee event will feature 250 two-person amateur teams competing for a first place $50K prize, with the top 40 teams qualifying for the National Championship, being held in November at Big Cedar Lodge on Missouri’s famed Table Rock Lake. The National Championship will be internationally broadcast and offer $1 million cash prize to the winning team.

Chris said, “I can’t wait to get out on the water and see the excitement of all the participants and their families. I can’t think of a better place to be and I’m humbled to get to share the stage with Roland and be part of such a great event! I appreciate my dear friend Johnny Morris and his team at Bass Pro for hosting this event for the community and coordinating a day in the great outdoors for people of all ages. Kelly and the kids will be with me and we are looking forward to a day of adventure in south Florida”.

Chris is an ambassador for Bass Pro Shops and an avid outdoorsman. Together with Bass Pro Shops founder and noted conservationist Johnny Morris, they have teamed up and designed a signature hat for sale in stores to support conservation.
