SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON is officially out of the Tokyo Olympics after a failed weed test. She had accepted a 30-day ban which meant she’d miss her 100-meter race.
There WAS hope that she could still compete in the 100-meter relay, but that was lost when track officials announced yesterday that she will be left off the team.
The U.S.A. Track and Field organization released a statement praising Sha’Carri for owning up to her actions, but said the guidelines DO need a makeover.
They also said, quote, “All athletes are equally aware of and must adhere to the current anti-doping code . . . our credibility as the National Governing Body would be lost if rules were only enforced under certain circumstances.”
