Genesis Postpones UK Tour Due To Covid

By Music News Oct 10, 2021 | 7:00 PM

Genesis has been forced off the road due to an unspecified bandmember testing positive for covid. The group was winding down its UK tour when they announced their final four gigs — Friday night (October 8th) in Glasgow, Scotland and its upcomning London, England concerts were postponed.

The group posted a message to fans on its official Genesis-Music.com website, which reads:

Following guidance and advice from the Government, it is with huge regret that the final four shows of Genesis’ Last Domino? Tour (this evening (8/10) at Glasgow SSE Hydro and 11, 12, 13 October at The O2 in London) have had to be postponed due to positive COVID19 tests within the band.

We are working to reschedule them as soon as possible and will announce the new dates through our website (www.genesis-music.com) and social media channels as soon as possible. All tickets will remain valid and ticket holders will be contacted by their ticket providers.

This is a hugely frustrating development for the band who are devastated with this unlucky turn of events. They hate having to take these steps but the safety of the audience and touring crew has to take priority. They look forward to seeing you upon their return.

Phil Collins, who has stated that this will be Genesis' final tour, told us that he feels as though his entire career has been a series of brilliant and happy accidents: “It's like being adrift in a boat. I fell asleep once on my boat on the lake in Geneva. I woke up and I was nearly at the bank. I just drifted all this way, and sometimes I look at my career like that. 'How did I get here? I didn't want to be here. I didn't even want to be a singer. I'm a drummer, y'know?' But things happen, and suddenly your life takes a big diversion and you're not really so aware of it at the time.”
