Latest Cancellations and Closings

MEDICAL FACILITIES

  • HSHS: Non-essential events canceled, no visitor policy.
  • Memorial Health Systems: no visitor policy.
  • SIU Medicine: elective procedures and non-urgent surgical cases are postponed until further notice.
  • Springfield Clinic: Springfield Clinic will remain open for patients unless contacted by a physician’s office. Drive-up labs for routine lab work are available at two Springfield Clinic locations.

EVENTS

The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is limiting the number of people at events. Indoor & Outdoor events are limited to 250 people or less.

  • Public events planned at the ALPLM through April 10 are CANCELED and additional events may be canceled as circumstances warrant.

  • Springfield Figure Skating Club has postponed all performance of Spotlight on Ice schedule for March 21 and 22 (3/14)

SCHOOLS

STATE OF ILLINOIS

  • The State of Illinois has dedicated a comprehensive website with county-by-county updates: coronavirus.illinois.gov 
  • Anyone wishing to enter the Sangamon County Building will be screened under a new county policy, with anyone with a temperature of over 100 degrees will be refused entry. Several offices are closed to the public, including county clerk, recorder, regional superintendent of schools, treasurer, child advocacy, community resources, veterans assistance, workforce training, regional planning and zoning. Those offices are still providing services. Other offices are open on a limited bases while several are operating as normal. Before traveling to a county office, members of the public should call first or check the county website
  • Sangamon County Courts of the 7th Judicial Circuit will be operating at reduced capacity.
    • Until further notice, the following Sangamon County cases and court proceedings are postponed:​

      • Traffic cases (TR, DT)
      • Misdemeanor cases (CM)
      • Probate (P)
      • Small Claims (SC)

  • Illinois Statehouse: tours and events CANCELED
  • Illinois State Museum: tours and events CANCELED
  • Jesse White Announces Closure of All Driver Services Facilities Effective March 17 Through March 31 Expiration dates to be extended 30 days.
  • The following county departments are operating as normal at the time of this release: Auditor, 911/Dispatch, Juvenile Center, Public Health,*Sheriff, and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

SPORTS

  • The Illinois High School Association has canceled the remainder of winter sporting events. Also canceled are scholastic bowl, drama & group interpretation, music, debate, and journalism.
