My favorite teacher
Raising three kids in this school district and seeing them all graduate PORTA proud, now watching our grandchildren attend and graduate still makes us proud to be a part of a great school district. My husband served on PORTA school board for twenty years as our kids were growing up. My favorite teacher starting teaching 6th grade for PORTA after beginning his career in Delavan, Il. He got married, bought a home, and started at PORTA all within the same year. So proud to see my favorite teacher return to PORTA to give back to a school that gave him so much for his learning years and beyond. Thank you to so many teachers who made my favorite teacher who is today, excuse me in advance if I forget one of you. Thanks to Kesler, Tusek, Davis, Grosboll, Hill, Cox, Hurie, Gregor, and many, many more: PORTA proud.
Tell us about your Teacher:
He has a heart of gold and a knack of making kids feel comfortable, relaxed, respectful and eager to learn. At a school event, kids flock to him to say hi, talk, see his own kids, or just to tease him. My favorite teacher loves making a difference with these kids and it shows, This year, like fo everyone else, has been really hard on my favorite teacher. Remote learning, hybrid learning, in person learning back to remote....what week is it? My favorite teacher adapts. At night he is a husband, a Dad to two sons, grades papers, watches alittle sports, and starts the next day just as he did the day before. He is missing his coaching this year, especially football, and might get to coach in the spring. He gives his students, his school and his family 110%, and that is only one reason why I call him my favorite teacher. He makes a difference in so many pre-teen lives-and for that he proves every year, the career path he chose was the right one. Thank you favorite teacher for what you do, for caring, and for helping shape the lives of your students as they start to become an adult. My teacher is our son, John (Jake) Stewart, 6th grade teacher at PORTA. Thank you for letting me share my story.
