The next time you leave town, here are some mistakes to avoid, according to The Mirror….
- Leaving too many lights on when you’re not home: Leaving one on is fine. But leaving multiple lights on for a few days in a row is a red flag to burglars that you’re not home.
- Leaving a key under the mat: I mean, yeah… it’s obvious you shouldn’t do this, but plenty of people still do.
- Leaving your blinds open: So they can see stuff from the street. Sorry. We know your cats like the view.
- Buying something expensive, then leaving the empty box outside. This one is often forgot about because its, well… trash. But it acts as a beacon to someone looking for a score.
- Having a ladder outside where they can access it. Most burglars won’t just bring one with them to a house they’re going to rob. But if you leave one out, they’ll definitely use it. Especially if you have an upstairs window that’s easy to get into.
