The use of a Lyft or an Uber is cutting down on drunk driving. However it is increasing alcohol consumption. A new studies show that alcohol consumption and binge-drinking has gone up 3-8% in cities with ridesharing. Isn’t that just about everywhere now? People feel that if they have a safe ride home, they will stay where they are at longer to drink. A previous study showed that the number one reason people get an Uber is to drink. I wonder if these results were surprising. The next study should be on if the bar business has increased.
