Doja Cat Responds To Claims Of Making Racist Comments

Doja Cat has addressed the alleged racist comments she made, which recently surfaced on the internet and resulted in Twitter rallying for her to be canceled.

Doja, who is South African and Jewish, is seen in a video participating in chat room conversations with several White men. The chat is said to be dedicated to members of the alt-right/incel community, which is an online subdivision of male White supremacists. Social media users then discovered that the “Say So” rapper made a song called “Dindu Nuffin,” which is based on a racial slur used by alt-right members against Black people who say they have been victimized by police brutality. Doja is also seen using the N-word in the video footage.

Doja hopped on social media Sunday night (May 24) to address the allegations made against her and offer an apology. “I want address what’s been happening on Twitter. I’ve used public chatrooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn’t have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I’m sorry to everyone that I offended.”

After stating that she is proud of her South African heritage, she continued, “As for the old song that’s resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my own personal experience. It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me. I made an attempt to flip its meaning, but recognize that it was a bad decision to use the term in my music.”

Doja apologized for hurting her fans and said that the behavior she is being accused of is not her character.
