ABC has FINALLY cast its first African American “Bachelor” after 24 seasons of mostly unsuccessful attempts at marrying desperate single people.

The 25th season will star MATT JAMES.  He was actually cast on CLARE CRAWLEY’S season of “The Bachelorette”, but production was shut down due to the pandemic.

Matt is 28, and works in real estate.  He was a football player at Wake Forest University, and tried to make it on a couple NFL teams, but it didn’t work out.

RACHEL LINDSAY, the first black star of “The Bachelorette”, said it’s another step in the right direction . . . . but added, quote, “This announcement, without any further commitments regarding diversity, sweepingly brushes deeper issues under the rug.

“Until we see other action to address the systemic racism within the franchise, the casting news today is equivalent to the trend of posting a black box on your social media account without taking other steps to dismantle the systems of injustice.”

ABC said, quote, “We know we have a responsibility to make sure the love stories we’re seeing onscreen are representative of the world we live in, and we are proudly in service to our audience. This is just the beginning.”
