The old horror flick, ‘Psycho’ turns 60 today (June 16)!
The Alfred Hitchcock classic is one of the original scary movies. Seen a departure for Hitchcock and filmed on a low budget, the film’s releases was mixed by critics but the box office returns were outstanding. Psycho went on to be nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Leigh and Best Director for Hitchcock. In 1992, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. Deeming the film “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
By the way, that creepy stabbing music was created by screeching the strings of a cello and a violin (who knew they could be so scary?!)
