Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher issued a rare veto on Tuesday night, striking down a previously approved ordinance by Ward 2 Alderman Shawn Gregory to designate a STAR Bond district in downtown Springfield for the History Across the Tracks initiative.
The mayor stated the veto was intended to prevent conflict with legislation to create the Capital Area Tourism Authority.
Alderman Gregory promised amendments to satisfy the mayor’s request.
