LIL NAS X, KING PRINCESS & MORE STAR IN GUCCI’S ‘OFF THE GRID’ SUSTAINABLE FASHION LINE: Gucci has announced its first-ever sustainable fashion line, Gucci Off the Grid, with the help of stars such as Lil Nas X, King Princess, Jane Fonda and more. The new eco-friendly fashion line comes as part of Gucci’s Circular Lines initiative, which supports the circular production of sustainable fashion. In the video clip for Gucci’s new campaign, Lil Nas X, King Princess and Fonda are joined by Japanese artist Miyavi and environmentalist David Mayer de Rothschild as they build a massive tree house in the middle of a bustling city. The line is comprised of various sizes of bags, purses, and wallets, as well as six pairs of shoes, three hats, two pairs of pants, and three different jackets.
PHARRELL HELPS MAKE JUNETEENTH A HOLIDAY IN VIRGINIA: Pharrell joined Virginia Governor Ralph Northan in a press conference yesterday and declared that Juneteenth will become a paid holiday for state employees. Pharrell said, “From this moment on when you look up, you look at the vastness of the night sky. And you see those stars moving up there. Know that those stars are our African ancestors dancing.” He added, “They’re dancing in celebration because their lives are finally being acknowledged. And I can’t say it too many times up here today, a paid holiday. It’s not the end of it. It’s merely just the beginning. Their lives matter. Their descendants’ lives matter. Black lives matter in the eyes of the commonwealth.”

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has teamed up with The Roots for their virtual Roots Picnic 2020. The Roots, H.E.R., Lil Baby, Roddy Rich, SZA, Kirk Franklin, Snoh Aalegra, Earthgang, G Herbo, Polo G, D Nice and Musiqsoulchild – backed by The Roots will all perform. The event will take place on June 27th and will be streamed on YouTube. During the event, there will be a call to action to vote in the upcoming elections. The goal is to engage 500,000 eligible voters.

The benefit will also feature Melissa Etheridge, Ricky Martin, Big Freedia, Kim Petras and Pose star Billy Porter. It will culminate in a one-hour special co-hosted by Laverne Cox and radio host Elvis Duran. Can’t Cancel Pride aims to raise visibility and funds for LGBTQ+ communities most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
