26 years ago today (June 17), O.J. Simpson was formally charged with the murder five nights before of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman. After being charged, Simpson was supposed to surrender, but he never showed up.
Hours later the world watched as Simpson, with friend Al Cowlings at the wheel, led police on a slow-speed chase on Los Angeles-area freeways.
