2020 was supposed to be Staind's big year — a tour and their first new album in years — but due to the pandemic, that didn't happen. Instead, the band was forced to make other plans, including next month's release of an album called Live: It’s Been Awhile, which was was recorded during an October 2019 reunion show at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., and The Return of Staind: A Two-Part Global Streaming Series that consists of Live: It’s Been Awhile (From Foxwoods) on May 1st and the newly filmed 20th Anniversary of Break the Cycle, Performed in Its Entirety on May 8th — exactly 20 years to the date of the release of Staind’s sophomore albums. Staind lead singer Aaron Lewis told Billboard of the band's reunion, “People didn’t think it was going to happen. It wasn’t necessarily that it would be so impossible to put it back together. I’ve kind of gotten used to it, and I kind of like not having to answer to anybody creatively. With the whole solo thing, I’m kind of the master of my own universe. So to go from that to sharing the universe with three other people in a creative situation is different, but it’ll be great.”
Billboard reports this is the most material the band has released in years.
Their project, Live: It’s Been Awhile, will be released on May 7th.
Upcoming plans include the release of a new Staind studio album as well as another solo project by Lewis.
