For the first time in history, the Super Bowl will be played just one day before Valentine’s Day, but the big game can’t compare to the magic of romance, according to a new survey.

The Stop ‘n’ Shop supermarket chain asked 2,000 customers about the two big events and found:

  • 58% of those polled would choose a romantic V-Day dinner, while 42% would watch the game with friends.
  • Asked to choose between dining experiences, 61% chose a romantic candlelight dinner and 39% would prefer a killer game-day spread.

In addition:

  • 51% said they will be staying home this Valentine’s Day, while 22% said they would go out and 27% were still unsure of their plans.
  • For the football fans, 43% of those surveyed said they prefer their wings mild, 31% said they like ’em hot, and 9% like them scorching. Believe it or not, 17% said they aren’t fans of wings at all.
  • And, for the record, 59% say boneless wings aren’t wings at all.
