If you are a fan of the Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians), people in the bigger cities may have one question for you: “Why?”
In a new poll, sports fans were asked what influenced their support for their favorite MLB team, and 46% said the biggest factor was “where they grew up.” Family is the second biggest factor . . . followed by where they currently live.
One in five fans say they’re influenced by who their friends root for . . . a little less than that say they root for the teams of their favorite players . . . and 8% of people admit they just root for the teams with the best records.
Baseball is known as “America’s Pastime” . . . but in this poll, only 36% agreed. 41% of people said football is America’s favorite pastime . . . 9% said it’s basketball . . . 3% said golf . . . and another 3% said soccer.
