RELATIONSHIPS: Friends Don’t Say This to Friends

Best friends feel like they can say just about anything to each other — but there are definitely some limits.

PureWow says that you can draw a line and not let your BFF cross it by saying things like:

“You’re over-reacting.” Your friend doesn’t understand why you’re making such a big deal of it. They don’t have to understand, but saying, “You’re making too big a deal out of this” is so toxic, Britney might break into song when hearing it.

“Everything comes so easily to you.” OK, Debbie Downer.  If you find yourself being pulled down by all her doom and gloom, it’s time to cut your losses — or at least limit your catch-ups to texts.

“I don’t know … breastfeeding was so easy for me.” A friend who constantly tries to one-up you isn’t a friend you need to keep around. A true friend listens, supports you, and offers advice if they’re asked. They certainly don’t rub it in how  incredibly great things are in their life.

“We need to find you a boyfriend.” Unless you’ve specifically said you’re on the hunt, your friends don’t need to make it a personal mission to find you a match. There’s nothing wrong with flying solo, and no one should make you feel bad for living the single life.
