Wet Nose Wednesday: Shaka

By John Spalding Jun 14, 2023 | 10:09 AM

The kennels at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center have been completely full for months. Many of the dogs in those kennels have been waiting months and months for someone to notice them and ask to meet them. Shaka is one of those dogs.

Shaka came to SCACAC as a stray on December 11th. During her 6 months at the shelter she has been passed by over and over again. We had her at an off-site adoption a few weeks ago and she did great meeting new people and enjoying the attention. Shaka is a big, strong girl who has been cooped up a long time so she’ll need a person who is willing to spend time taking walks and teaching her how to be a member of a family. She’s a young girl a little over a year old so she can be a loving companion for years.
If you’re thinking about adding a new dog to your family, please consider Shaka or any of the other dogs who have been waiting a long time for a fresh start. They’re waiting to meet you Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15. Saturday hours have been extended to 10:30-3:15. The adoption fee for dogs has been reduced to $50.00. Now is the time to bring home your new best friend!
