Do you ever go into the office bathroom just to scroll on your phone and avoid work?  What if they installed these?

A popular World Heritage tourist site in China is in the news, after installing TIMERS above the door of each bathroom stall.

The timer starts when you walk in, so everyone waiting in line can see how long you’ve been in there.  But officials claim they’re NOT trying to rush anyone.

They say the timers are a new safety feature they added in case someone has a medical emergency and can’t call for help.

The idea is if you’ve been in there 30 minutes, it’s safe to assume you’re not still using the bathroom.

They say they’d never kick someone out for taking too long, and there’s no plan to institute a, quote, “time limit such as five or 10 minutes.”  But some people still think it’s weird, and that you’d naturally feel rushed.
