The Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) presented the Silver Dome Awards, recognizing the best in broadcasting, Tuesday, October 8th. The ceremony was held at Illinois State University’s Bone Student Center and included a win for Woodward Community Media’s 104.5 WFMB (WFMB-FM) in the category of Best Radio Station Use of Non-Broadcast Media. 104.5 WFMB actually had two of the three finalists in this category, but it was “Eating Around the 217 with Josh Roberts” that picked up the Silver Dome win. Roberts and producer Kyle Hutchinson received the award.
Woodward Community Media’s Springfield team also won the Best Radio Play-by-Play for the broadcast of last season’s Rochester @ Murphysboro game by Chris McCloud, Steve Bridge, and Mike Chamness. The Springfield team also garnered several finalist nods including:
Best Radio Humorous Commercial: Adam Hawkins
Best Radio Local Broadcast Team: John & Leah, New Country Mornings (WFMB-FM)
Best Radio Stations Community Service: St. Jude Country Cares Radiothon (WFMB-FM)
Best Radio Station Use of Non-Broadcast Media: 217 Tales with John Spalding (WFMB-FM)
