Strands of Kurt Cobain’s hair leads a selection of rock memorabilia that are up for sale at Potter & Potter Auctions as part of a collection titled, Punks, Monsters, Smut & Madmen: A Countercultural Cross-Section. The Chicago-based auction house is set to open bidding on March 6 for a catalog of punk and grunge artifacts, highlighted by two strands of the Nirvana frontman’s hair, along with other unique items including the storefront awning from CBGB’s gift shop and a piece of the venue’s dressing room wall, signed items from the Ramones and Dead Kennedys, and shock rocker GG Allin’s underwear signed in blood. Cobain’s hair makes its return to auction, after six strands of the late musician’s locks were previously sold for $14,145 back in 2021. The listing states that the hair was originally obtained in Birmingham, England, in 1989 by Cobain’s friend Tessa Osbourne while Nirvana was on their Bleach tour. (Billboard)
