The City of Springfield and Sangamon County leaders are pointing to the future of the area with large-scale projects.
Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher and Sangamon County Board Chairman Andy Van Meter addressed the annual State of Greater Springfield hosted by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday at President Abraham Lincoln Hotel by Doubletree.
Buscher said economic development has progressed and infrastructure improvements have ramped up. Buscher said she will continue to push for mental health resources.
Van Meter focused on the county’s vetting of two large projects, a proposed data center near Thayer and the proposed Capital Area Tourism Authority in downtown Springfield based around a new hotel and expanded Bank of Springfield Center.
