On Thursday (May 8), The Who announced the dates and details of The Song Is Over North American Farewell Tour, which is being billed as their final run of live shows in the United States and Canada before they retire from the stage. The 16-date jaunt starts on August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, and concludes on September 28 in Las Vegas, with additional stops including Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, and Seattle, as well as two-night stands in Toronto and Los Angeles, as well as a special show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 30. Artist presale begins on Tuesday (May 13), with general on-sale staring on Friday (May 16). “Well, all good things must come to an end,” Pete Townshend said in a statement. “It is a poignant time. For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.” While the Who have yet to announce additional legs of their farewell tour, worldwide dates are sure to be added in the future. (Rolling Stone)
