The Artist Spotlight: The Pretty Wild

The Artist Spotlight rounded out the week with The Pretty Wild and their new single, “Button Eyes.” The band is made up of sisters, Jules and Jyl Wylde. Here is what the sisters had to share about the song:

This song is for anyone who’s ever felt objectified, used or controlled. It’s about the moment you consciously break free from manipulation and you sever ties with that toxicity for good. We used dolls as a vessel for this theme, mostly as a way to blend playful melodies and imagery in a way that lightens a heavy conversation topic.” – jules

‘Button Eyes’ explores the theme of disillusionment with life and the process of reclaiming personal power. The song cheekily pokes at the painful process of breaking free from the misleading beliefs that held us back and stepping into our truth. Essentially empowering ourselves by rejecting disempowering narratives that were imposed upon us. Personally, I love this one because it comes across fun, poppy, and superficial, but the irony in it, is that it’s the juxtaposition of all that at its core.” -jyl
