Riverton, IL – May 27, 2025 — Eighth-grade students at Riverton Middle School got an inside look at the evolving world of radio during Career Day, thanks to a visit from Rocki of 98.7 WNNS and Ryan of 97.7 QLZ, both part of Woodward Community Media.
The two radio personalities spoke with six groups of students throughout the day, discussing not only the basics of broadcasting but also how radio plays a larger role in community engagement and digital content. They explained how modern radio extends beyond the airwaves, involving social media, podcasts, live events, and online platforms to connect with audiences.
Students were engaged and asked thoughtful questions throughout the sessions. One student even remarked, “You guys were the best presentation all day — and there was a firefighter!”
The visit came just as students were preparing to finish the school year, offering a timely look at how media careers are changing and expanding.
