The Animal Protective League announced on Thursday afternoon the date and time for this year’s DIM Art House ADOPT! Group Art Show and APL Junior Volunteer Ice Cream Social Fundraiser.

The organization noted that it would be holding this year’s bash on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Scoop Du Jour, 95 Plummer Blvd., Chatham, IL 62629.

Local artists have chosen APL adoptable animals as their muses to create works of art across various media.

Art enthusiasts and animal lovers alike can purchase these creations directly from the artists at the gallery sale inside Scoop Du Jour.

A portion of the proceeds will directly benefit APL.

Meanwhile, on the outside, APL Junior Volunteers are set to host a family-friendly Ice Cream Social featuring the APL Mobile Adoption Unit onsite with cats and dogs, as well as volunteers ready to assist in the adoption process.

For a donation of $5, APL JV’s will lend a helping paw to your four-legged friend and assist them in creating their very own original painting.

There will also be a gallery of select paintings for sale created by our talented APL shelter animals and pet-themed vendors in attendance. In addition to these exciting activities, Scoop Du Jour has generously pledged to donate 15% of all sales throughout the entire day to support APL’s mission. Admission to the event is free, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Whether you’re looking to adopt, support local artists, or just enjoy a scoop of ice cream on a summer day, there’s something for everyone.

The APL notes that the Junior Volunteer summer program is for children aged 12 to 15 years old who have a love of animals.

JV’s come to the shelter twice a week during the program and help care for the dogs and cats living at the shelter.

Participants can also learn about a variety of humane welfare topics, including pet overpopulation, the importance of spay/neuter, adoption, animal neglect or abuse, safety around animals, animal care, behavior training, fundraising, and more.

APL is a non-profit organization committed to caring for sick, injured, abused and abandoned animals. In addition to regular pet adoptions, APL operates a low cost spay/neuter clinic adjacent to its Springfield shelter.

For additional information on adoptions, volunteering or making a donation, call the Animal Protective League at 544-PETS (7387) or check our website at www.apl-shelter.org.
