On Monday (June 16), Good Charlotte revealed that they are finally releasing their long-awaited eighth album, titled Motel Du Cap, on August 8. The band shared the news with a mysterious billboard on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles that featured a picture of the band along with the album title and date, with no other information provided. This marks the band’s first full-length album since 2018’s Generation Rx, and follows the release of their most recent single, “Last December,” in 2020. Since then, band leaders and brothers Joel and Benji Madden have focused on various business ventures outside of music, including the livestream platform Veeps, Joel’s Artist Friendly podcast, and an artist management company called MDDN. In May, Good Charlotte reunited at Welcome to Rockville for their first show since 2023, where Benji told the crowd, “We got a record coming out in August, we’ll be on tour.” The band have a series of upcoming festival appearances scheduled, including Ocean’s Calling and Aftershock.
