On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the LRS Hangar at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport was transformed into a celebration of high school sports excellence. The 4th Annual Channel1450 Awards, hosted by Woodward Community Media Springfield, brought together nearly 500 attendees to honor the achievements of student-athletes, coaches, and athletic programs from across central Illinois.
This year’s event marked the culmination of the 2024–2025 high school sports season, offering a moment to reflect on the dedication and talent that define local athletics. Guests enjoyed a delicious catered dinner from Poe’s, with sweet treats provided by Scoop De Jour, before settling in for a 90-minute awards presentation that highlighted standout performances and community spirit.
The event was powered by the efforts of Channel1450.com with familiar faces like Market Manager Kevin O’Dea, Derek Parris, Leanna Churchill, and Michael Hardwick leading the charge. As Derek Parris, Sports Director at Channel1450.com, put it:
