Federal EPA Regional Administrator Anne Vogel visited Springfield to tour the abandoned Pillsbury site on Wednesday. More than three million dollars in federal money for abatement and demolition was secured during the past year.
Some portions of the site have been torn down in recent months, while decontamination in other areas remains underway. Moving Pillsbury Forward reported nearly all of the asbestos has been removed and equipment is on site to begin early stages of demolition this month.
