A Chatham woman is dead after a shooting on Springfield’s east side early Saturday morning.
Springfield Police were called after 3:30 am to the 1900 block of Holly Drive for a report of a shooting. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said 36-year-old Rekeea Jackson-Mason was pronounced dead after 4 am shortly after arriving at the emergency room of HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
Allmon said preliminary autopsy results show Jackson-Mason died from a gunshot wound. Springfield Police and the coroner’s office are investigating.
