The former CEO of electric utility Commonwealth Edison has been sentenced to two years in prison for her role in bribing ex-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
Capitol News Illinois reports Anne Pramaggiore , was convicted in 2023 along with three other former ComEd executives and lobbyists. A jury found they gave jobs and contracts to Madigan allies in an effort to push for legislation backed by the utility.
During Monday’s hearing, Pramaggiore declined to make a statement to the judge, but through a spokesperson after court, reiterated her claim of innocence and vowed to appeal. The former speaker was convicted on related corruption counts in February, and sentenced last month to seven-and-a-half years in prison.
