A Democrat running for U.S. Senate hopes his downstate background will resonate with voters next year.
During a listening session on Thursday in Springfield, Raja Krishnamoorthi said economic concerns must be addressed before talking about anything else.
Krishnamoorthi grew up in Peoria and represents a suburban Chicago area including Schaumburg in Congress.
Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton and Congresswoman Robin Kelly are also running for the Democratic nomination next year to replace retiring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
