A 26-year-old Chatham woman has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on a charge connected to the robbery and stabbing death of a Springfield man in 2018.
Katherine Smith was originally charged with first-degree murder but pleaded guilty in April of this year to home invasion and was sentenced on Monday. Prosecutors said Smith was not present when Dayne Woods and Mark Meszaros broke into the Jackson Street home of Dohndre Hughes pretending to be police, but she conspired in the crime.
Woods was sentenced to 37 years in prison last year after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder, and Meszaros was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty in January of this year to armed robbery and home invasion.
Smith was given credit for 7 ½ years in custody and is expected to be released this year.
