Illinois State Police continue to search for a 70-year-old man wanted in connection with the shooting of two police officers early Saturday in Gibson City. Police said the officers investigated a report of a naked man, later identified as David Jordan, who allegedly shot the officers and fled.
Jordan’s residence caught fire at about the same time as the shootings. State police said a six-year Ford County sheriff’s deputy was shot in the left knee and left arm, and a one-year Gibson City police officer was shot in the left hip.
Both officers were released from the hospital on Sunday. They are on paid administrative leave. Police said there does not appear to be an active threat to the public, but anyone who encounters Jordan should call 911 and not approach him.
