During a recent appearance on the Loudwire Nights podcast, Tool’s Adam Jones and Maynard James Keenan shared insight into the progress the band is making on their next album, which will follow-up 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Jones, drummer Danny Carey, and bassist Justin Chancellor are actively jamming, including one riff that sounds like Black Sabbath that they hope to eventually shape into a Tool song. The musicians were asked what they have planned for 2026 since they have no tour dates booked, with Keenan responding, “Writing, I guess,” before adding, “You guys are busy, Adam?” Jones revealed that “We want to get another record out and play, do what we do. I think we’re going to dive deep soon.” The guitarist added, “I’ve got lots of riffs, we put them together, tear them apart and try to make something that we’re all into.” Tool have shows in Japan scheduled in December, followed by their first concerts in Hawaii in nearly 15 years.
