Jack White has apparently sold an unspecified stake in his extensive music catalog to Sony Music. According to a source familiar with the matter, White and Sony closed the deal earlier this summer, which covers recordings from his time with The White Stripes, his solo career, and work with bands The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. While details on the specific portion of the music sold and financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, White is reported to maintain control of his recordings, and the agreement does not include future releases. Known for his pioneering role in rock music and as a founder of the innovative label Third Man Records, White’s catalog features iconic songs like “We’re Going to Be Friends,” “Fell in Love With a Girl,” and the sports arena anthem, “Seven Nation Army,” with the White Stripes winning multiple Grammy Awards throughout their groundbreaking run. This acquisition follows Sony’s recent purchases of major rock catalogs, including those of music legends Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. (The Hollywood Reporter)
