The number of sheriff’s deputies on the road in Sangamon County is gradually increasing according to Sheriff Paula Crouch.
She told AM Springfield that the department is budgeted for 72 deputies, including administrative staff, but is currently 11 deputies short of full staffing. Crouch said training is underway to cut into the shortage.
Crouch said a department app should be available to the public by the end of the month.
