A human skull was recently found on Springfield’s far south side according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.
The coroner said the skull was found on September 20th near the 6200 block of Winterberry Lane.
Allmon said the skull was sent to an anthropologist and then to Illinois State Police for possible DNA extraction.
The coroner’s office and Springfield Police are investigating.
