With the first snowflakes of the season being seen, local authorities are reminding motorists to slow down when encountering winter weather.
Illinois State Police remind drivers that speed limits are set for travelling in ideal conditions. They recommend drivers accelerate and decelerate gently in winter weather conditions.
They also remind drivers before you leave to clear snow and ice off your car and tell people where you’re going in case anything happens.
